Once we have determined any underlying, co-occurring disorders our clients may be struggling from, our staff begins administering treatment by placing the client through a supervised detoxification process. At Beachside Emotional Wellness, we recognize that substance abuse might not be the problem in and of itself, but it might indicate additional problems below the surface. We have experience providing addiction recovery treatment for a variety of substances, including methamphetamine, opioids, and amphetamines. We also provide treatment for addiction benzodiazepines, hallucinogens, and anti-anxiety meds. VIVITROL® is administered through an injection, and works to block opiate receptors, thereby preventing the euphoric effects of the drug. Naltrexone, the active ingredient in VIVITROL®. Naltrexone attaches to particular opiate receptors in the brain, and serves as a block, preventing the pleasurable feelings that lead to opiate abuse from occurring.

Imperative information regarding VIVITROL®, which must be understood by our clients, is that using any amount of opiate while taking part in VIVITROL® treatment may lead to overdose, and even fatality. Before VIVITROL® is administered, clients should know that breaking through the “blockade” created by the medication should not be attempted. Once VIVITROL® has been administered, the effect will slowly dissipate over time.

VIVITROL® can also prove helpful in combating alcohol addiction. It is absolutely essential that drinking does not continue once VIVITROL® has been administered. When applied in conjunction with other treatments, VIVITROL® has been demonstrated to be effective in treating both alcohol and opioid dependence.

It is necessary to continue counseling or therapy after VIVITROL® has been administered. However, thanks to its long-lasting formula, VIVITROL® only needs to be administered one time a month.
